Tiny Techs

This isn’t something you would normally see here, but My little Lily (on the right) had her first photo shoot that will be published today. You know she’s had her picture taken many, many times, but this was the first official job. That’s her friend and classmate Tianna doing her toe nails. Cute, cute, cute!

Rodger

This is a different angle from a shoot I’ve posted on the old blog. I’m super swamped right now and I’m hoping to have some cool stuff to post next week. Before that though, I’m doing a shoot on Friday with a bunch of two to three year olds for a Nailpro story (don’t worry, it has nothing to do with manicures for kids!). Anyway, my little Lily is going to be one of the models so hopefully I’ll post a picture from that here too.

Kirsten

If you’ve been around since version 1, you’ll remember the all girl metal band I shot, Lia-Fail. This is the drummer Kirsten. I’ve been holding off on this shot because there’s something about it that bugs me and I can’t quite put my finger on it. The focus is a little off as I missed her eyes just a smidge, but I’m not sure that’s it. Besides, you really can’t tell when the image is this small anyway.

40 Something

Today I go from 40 to 40 Something. Sorry if you were expecting a picture of a lovely model, but I felt the need to take a rare self portrait today. Of course, I’m hiding behind one of my favorite pieces of equipment, so you can’t see my chins. Cropping off my “five head” helps too, but there’s no way to lessen the impact of my gigantic head. Shooting with a wide angle lens with something in the foreground helps a little though. Oh, the camera in the picture is my trusty Horseman LX 4×5 with a Schneider 360mm 6.8 Symmar-S lens and a 545 Polaroid back attached.

Gumballs

The last time I put up a picture of a woman below the knees (same model, by the way), I ended up getting tons of traffic from Google Images for searches of a certain two word phrase that I won’t type here. I will give it to you cryptic like with the following; F**t F**ish. The problem wasn’t in the picture, but the fact that I wrote something about getting traffic from this particular segment of society and it turned out to be a self fulfilling prophecy. At one point I typed in those search terms and my image was NUMBER 1! Imagine that. Anyway, this was another cover for Nailpro Magazine. We did our initial shots with the entire floor covered with gumballs. I chewed those things for a month, which isn’t hard considering they last about thirty seconds each.

Renée

This is my interpretation of my shot used for the cover of the latest issue of Nailpro Magazine. I cropped it a little and vignetted a little too. The interesting part is that this is a composite of two shots. The hand is from a different frame because they liked her face on this one, but the nails (the most important part) looked better on another shot.
I’m going to the beach for a week, so please don’t forget about me. I’m going to upload another shot just in case I get a chance (and an internet connection) to write a post during the week. My other blog will be on auto-pilot though, with a new image every day.

Ingrid

I don’t always have much to say about these pictures. This is another shot I did of Ingrid after our shoot a couple weeks ago. I’m going to try to post one more image before I take a much needed vacation with the family. We rented a beach house for a week and I plan on being water logged for a large percentage of that time. For anyone who might run into me down there, put on your shades so I don’t blind you.

Daphnee

Another after job shoot from the other day. I pulled Daphnee aside and shot about ten frames. I didn’t really get anything great, but sometimes it’s hard when you’re in the middle of a shoot and you need to setup for the next model. Well, I thought she had a unique look so we will probably test some day. Oh, and she has super cute two year old twin boys. It seems like a lot of the models I’ve shot lately have kids. I wonder if there’s a direct correlation to the fact that I haven’t had any prima-donna models in here for a while either.

Sierra

Something tells me that I posted a cropped version of this on the old blog, but I can’t find it in the archives so here you go. I designed this set myself and built it with the help of my friends Rich and Rudy. Wow that sounds like a sitcom name. 🙂 , There were some scuffs on the floor that I didn’t see in the Polaroids that were quite obvious on film. but had the retoucher fix it all up for me. Anyway, this was shot for a hair care company and as far as I know was not used. I think I told the story before, but basically the company switched agencies right after the shoot and they went a different direction. I was shooting a model one day and looking through her book and saw the ads that they shot with the new agency. I really liked them. I’m not sure if that sucks or not.

Welcome to Version 2.0!

Wow. I can’t believe after a year and a half I’ve finally redesigned this blog. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and the day is here. I hope you like the new layout. My first order of business was to make vertical images more visible without so much scrolling and viewing one image per page. Next on the list was RSS. Now stop bugging me about it already! 🙂 My blogroll and other links have been moved to the links page.
Well, I chose this shot to start things off because it’s the most recent thing I’ve shot. Start the new with the new, I guess. I shot a full day for Dayspa Magazine today and Ingrid stayed after to do some stuff for our books along with Michelle. I have more from today to show as I work on them.
Once I have more than one entry you will be able to click on the image to go to the previous post. That was one of my other must haves.
