Mikki Nude


I’ve never posted this image on either of my blogs (un-cropped) even though it’s arguable the best portrait I’ve ever shot. Even though I don’t find it sexual, it’ still scares some people. Out of all the images I’ve posted on Flickr, it has sparked the most response and debate. Mikki (not her real name) was an adult film performer that I shot for a friend’s small company years ago. She was a very nice person and let me shoot this portrait of her after a job. As soon as I saw the polaroid I knew I had something special. Here’s a link to the discussion on Flickr.

Renée 3


Renée from the archives. This is probably one of my most popular portraits, so many of you have already seen it. I entered four images in this years APA National Photo Competition and this is one of them. The APA (Advertising Photographers of America) is the professional association that I belong to. They have to have been created from August 1, 2004 to August 16, 2006. This is uncommon, as images in most competitions like this must be shot within the previous year. Since all four images that I entered were posted to the old blog well over a year ago, I might post them together here… might.

Bobbie 1


I first met Bobbie about thirteen years ago when she was 15 years old. I shot a lot of pictures of her back then when Bobbie, Yolanda, and I were working on our portfolios. I hadn’t seen Bobbie for at least ten years until she called me recently to shoot some pictures of her pregnant. It was a treat to see her all grown up.
