were you using the flash or just the modeling light - since you were shooting at 1.8?

Ha! I didn't catch that. It was actually shot at f3.5... Not 1.8. I also has the 5D set to 50 iso, so strobe it was. :-) It was shot with a Profoto 7B at as low as I could get the power. (I don't use them normally). The main light is also aimed across his face so it's not pointed at him. He's just getting some spill from the soft box.
