Mecca

I shot Mecca after a Dayspa cover shoot. I don’t have a story for this… I’m not sure why. Sometimes I just ask someone to sit, I try to take a nice picture of them and months later I work on it. This is one of those cases.
model: Mecca (Ford Models)
makeup/hair: Michelle Tabor
camera/film: Horseman LX 4×5. Schneider 360mm 6.8 Symmar S. Polaroid Type 55.
lighting: Elinchrom Octa on the right. Speedotron head with 20″ dish on left for rim light. Just left of camera there’s a 4×8 sheet of Fomecore to fill in the face a bit. That’s what you see in the catch-lights.
wow this is beautiful! she’s absolutely gorgeous and the lighting is fantastic! i miss you brooks!
Brooks…
Is that “out of focus” look a result of Photoshop?
Shame on you Bob! The softness is from a little front lens board tilt on the 4×5 view camera. The rough edges are part of the film, so it would be nearly impossible to soften her without softening the edges too.
Well….now you know how much Bob knows!!
Brooks if you are ever in the UK, you have to give me a holla to come and bask in your awesomeness for a day, there is soo mauch I can steal… sorry learn from you LOL, Another top notch image from you but that is always to be expected.

Great picture. I am wondering, is there a solarisation effect? It seems to me around and in the eyes.
No solarization. I did do quite a bit of “dodging and burning” on this image though. The effect in the eyes is simply the reflection of a large white reflector that had been dodged a bit. I always brighten they eyes up a little, with care not to go too far. I thought I went too far here, but after looking at it for a while, I felt it had good impact, so I left it.
